David Plattner aboard the Govenors Plane headed for an inspection of 7.9 million hecatres of land in Bahia. David Plattner met ith the Enviromental Minsiter and others and disucssed placing the RainTrust Conservation Agreement on these lands promoting sustainable economic growth.

 RainTrust Asia has now placed under conservation agreement 12.5 million
acres of rainforest of Papua Indonesia. This agreement will be the
largest sustainable conservation initiative. This is a historic public
private partnership with the people of Papua, Indonesia benefiting from
all progams.

2006
RainTrust and the municipal goverment in China’s Yichuan province have
negotiated an agreement in principle to place 4 million hectares (10
million acres) of forest land under the protection of RainTrust’s
Conservation Agreement, including the reforestation of 80,000 hectatres
(200,000 acres). This landmark project represents the trial phase of a
massive forest reform program recently announced by the Chinese
Government’s Ministry of Forestry (MOF) that would transfer the
sustainable development rights of the country’s extensive areas of
forested and deforested into responsible private hands in order to
protect the environment and improve the living standards of the rural
residents of the region.
