About Captain Wolfgang RainTrust's intrepid Amazon guide and documentary-maker, Wolfgang Broeg has helped Raintrust Travel assemble a fantastic fleet of Amazon Riverboats to accommodate virtually every size group and every budget. Captain Wolfgang has made this untamed part of the world his second homeland for the past 25 years, sharing his knowledge of the rainforest with eco-conscious travelers from around the world. While on location shooting many of his numerous documentaries, he has spent many months at a time on the rivers and in the rainforests, experiencing it as very few outsiders ever have.
8-Day Eco-Tour Highlights We will also visit local villages of indigenous rainforest people, learn about their nature-based culture, marvel at their ancient skills, self-sufficiency, and their knowledge of the many medicinal plants they collect and their use in their daily lives. In making his 4-part series “From the Orinoko to the Andes,” he followed the route of the famous explorer Alexander von Humbold from Venezuela over Columbia and Ecuador to Peru. For his 5-part documentary “A Myth of 7,000 Kilometres – The Amazon River,” he followed the entire course of Amazon River from its source high in the Andes all the way to the Atlantic. In “The Secret of Tatunca Nara," he revealed that the alleged chieftain of the Uga Mogulala, was, in reality, the German Hansi Hauck. Together with Germany's most famous adventurer Rüdiger Nehberg ("Sir Vival"), he risked his life to make “Gold Fever In The Amazon,” mingling with and then exposing the ruthless prospectors who had invaded the sacred tribal lands of the Yanomani Indians. Before he devoted himself to the Amazon, Wolfgang Brög was a certified mountain and skiing guide. As an extreme mountaineer, he climbed the Himalayas (including the legendary, 8000-meter Mount Annapurna, while carrying a complete set of film equipment. He also scaled the most difficult sheer rock faces of the Alps, even the infamous north face of the Eiger. Wolfgang's adventures have also taken him across the Sahara, from Egypt to the Sudan, and onto Kenya. In Africa, he survived several adventures together with Rüdiger Nehberg, and he has worked for thirty years as a cameraman and film author.

For this 7-Day River Adventure, Captain Wolfgang has chosen a more traditional Amazon riverboat, rather than the luxury motor yacht we use for our 8-day Eco-Tours. It even gives you the option of sleeping out on deck in swinging hammocks, to catch the river breezes...just like the locals do.
